48" SCLD T-3 LD Golf Shaft
"The Black Pearl"

The FineOne SCLD T-3 LD, or Black Pearl, golf shaft is the 48" version of the T-3 golf shaft used  to dominate and  win the 2010 Re/Max World Long Drive Championship.  It has been developed using the testing techniques and information provided by the Steel City Long Drive Team over the course of 2 Long Drive seasons.

Four years ago, a small golf shaft company from Korea (FineOne Golf Co.)developed an idea to fundamentally change the way the graphite golf shafts are produced.  You may read about this process at http://www.fineonegolf.com .

The Steel City Long Drive Team, based in Delmont, Pa.,  performs at Charity events, Fundraisers, and Corporate Golf Outings across the country.  For further info regarding our service, please contact us at info@steelcitylongdriver.com.

As stated on our "Home Page" and "About Us" page on this website, my purpose here," is to provide quality Long Drive caliber equipment for everyday play."  You may read more on my qualifications on the "About Us" page.

When I first tested the T-3 woods shafts in the Summer of 2008, I thought the design change in the manufacturing process of the shaft was just a gimick.  You know.  "...best, longest, most forgiving, softer feel..."  blah, blah, blah!  Every shaft maker in history seems to identifiy the newest renditions as " their best."  It happens year, after year, after year.  While many companies do, indeed, try their best to upgrade the products to aide golfers develop their golf games, it has always been done with a narrow focus.  The focus has been on material upgrades and "axis" type weaves in an attempt to stabilize the shaft at impact.  FineOne has taken a different approach.  Fundamentally changing the manufacuring design of the golf shaft.

AS a "Scratch" golfer, back in the day, I had played more than a few pieces of equipment in an attempt to maximize my performance on the golf course.  Nothing, Nothing, Nothing comes close to this technology for the advancement of your golf game.  The FineOne T-3 Golf Shafts do exactly what they profess!   They reduce shot dispersion, increase the angle of attack,  provide a softer feel than other graphite shafts, and provide the user with the confidence of accuracy off of the tee!  AND THAT'S JUST FOR PLAYING SHAFTS!!

The T-3 Golf Shaft, model W7-090-07,  used by the WINNER of the World Long Drive title in 2010, was first used by Kevin Wolfe in Round 1 of Qualifying in the 2009 Remax World Long Drive Championship!  (Even the same flex!)  At that time, and even leading into the event, it was evident that this shaft was going to be a force to be reckoned with.    While it may have been too much shaft for Kevin, It clearly was THE shaft for the WINNER!  The amazing thing about the Champions performance wasn't the fact that he won. But, that he won with a club he had never hit before, until Thursday afternoon, the day before the Quarter Finals!  That's how impresssed he was!  He had enough confidence in his abilities, and the clubmaker, to take his new found power to the tee box with him on Friday Morning!  THAT is Amazing!

In testing the T-3 48" protoype golf shafts, we first wanted to know if the extended length would make the shaft too soft for LDers.  Most LD competitors are looking for stiffer tips to decrease spin rates and increase the "roll out" of the tee ball.    We continued by using different weighted heads with the shafts and found that the lighter heads were not as consistent on these shafts as were the heavier heads.  More on that later.   We really liked the "kick " of the shaft, realizing not 1, but ,4 kickpoints of the golf shaft!  This really allowed the shaft to load much easier than we thought it might.  "Feel"  became a plus for this shaft.  After discussions with SteelCity Long Drive Team members, I decide to ask FineOne golf if they would build a Ld shaft with a stiffer tip, than, the ones we tested.

The manufacturer did not understand.  How could we improve on that design?  With further urging, I asked for FineOne to build another set of proto's with a slightly more stable tip section.  We received 4 shafts.  And, at this time, were the only Long Drivers on the planet testing these T-3 proto's!  So, what you read  on other websites, including the FineOne Golf.com site, about recommended Swing Speeds, and other specs of the T-3 48" LD shaft...just remember.  We had it here first!  In fact, the RSSR number on this website is unique to the SteelCityLongDriver T-3 LD golf shaft (SCLD T-3 LD golf shaft, or, SCLD80 Series LD shaft) .  We found the new proto's to have a stiifer butt section and stiffer tip, as well.

Enough Bravado!  Here are the brass tacks!   These 80 gm shafts can fit any Ld er in the world.  Whether you like the lighter head designs of Adams Golf, or add weight to the Krank Rage head, as the 2010 World Champion did.  You will feel the load of this shaft regardless of the weight of the head.  As you see with this Championship performance, Accuracy is a Premium component of this shaft. (6 for 6 in Quarters)  When shots were missed off the grid, none of them; I repeat, none of them hooked, or, sliced off the grid!   They were either a flat pull, or, push.  The major advantage this LD shaft has over any other Ld shaft on the market is it's propensity to allow you to hit balls in the grid!!  As stated earlier, angular distortion at impact is greatly reduced, thus, longer, straighter drives!

I love the Sport of Long Drive.  It helps me maintain a competitve edge in my life.  I just hope not too many of you in the Senior and Super Senior Divisions buy this shaft!  I have my reasons!
