On To Mesquite!

50 year old Kevin Wolfe, from Delmont, Pa. competing in the Senior Division of the Remax World Long Drive Championships, has done it again!

For the 6th consecutive year, Kevin will be competing for a World title in the sport of Long Drive of Golf.  Long Drivers of America, founded by 2 time National Long Drive Champion Art Sellinger, hosts the Remax World Long Drive Championships.  The event is held in the desert basin of Mesquite, Nevada from Oct. 25 to Oct 30.  Visit www.longdrivers.com for more tournament info.

After failing to qualify in the Region 1 Finals, held in Conneaut, PA., Kevin ventured south to North Carolina and the Region 2 Finals.  There, at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, N.C., the Region 2 finals held a strong field of competitors from across the U.S..  Competitors Ramirez (2006 finals), Schuler, Pruitt, Kneght, Vaughn, Stinson and others made this field strong enough to warrant 3 qualifiers from the LDA.

After moving through rounds 2 and 5 and into the "Shoot-out", Kevin held the lead after four competitors in the Shoot-Out with a good ball of 365 yards.  Then, Mr. Kenny Pruitt stepped up and blasted a ball 375 yards to win the Region 2 Finals!  The 365 Kevin hit was good enough for 2nd place and one of the three qualifying spots to advance to Mesquite and the Remax World Long Drive Championship.

Since 2004, Kevin's first year of competition, he has advanced to the World Finals each year.  Most notably being a Semi-Finalist in 2005, and finishing 3rd at the 2006 Finals.  With tougher fields each and every year, the quest for a World title also gets tougher.  One thing is certain, not just for Kevin, but for all competitors...you can't win it, 'less your in it!

Good Luck to all the competitors in Mesquite this year!  Keep the Dream Alive!
